KAT TANSEY is an inspirational author, educator and entrepreneur. Kat began her corporate career in the 70s, training thousands of people and consulting with over fifty corporations to help them meet the challenges of change.
After twenty years spent helping people and organizations change, Kat created and co-authored Winning the Change Game, based on her own Change Model. Her book came out in the late 80s just when corporations began merging and downsizing, and Kat was brought in as Vice President of a thriving outplacement firm to provide coaching for employees affected by organizational change. Her Change Model proved immensely effective in helping people through their often difficult transition of dealing with loss, anger and uncertainty, ultimately moving on to exciting new directions in their lives and careers.
After many years as an energetic champion of change, Kat herself was faced with a big one – she was literally laid flat by an unknown illness which would later be called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. She began a lonely chapter in her life, a personal journey into the unknown. To get well, she discovered, she had to learn how to shift from fast-paced Doing to peaceful Being.
Kat’s new book, Choosing to Be: Lessons in Living from a Feline Zen Master, is the heartwarming (somewhat fictionalized) story of how Kat found her way back to an active life. In her book, she tells how she discovered a new way of seeing the world, and learned that Being is more important than Doing.
As a result of her own profound experiences with personal change and her years of experience in helping individuals cope with their own transitions, Kat was recently chosen as the Exceptional Wisdom Scholar on personal change. In this role, Kat continues to write about personal change, an issue ever more important in view of the accelerating pace of change in our society. Her latest book, Walking with Wisdom, is scheduled for publication in 2010.
